         Barefoot Ah-Shiatsu Massage
                                   Ah-Shiatsu Therapy

Do You Like Medium or Deep - Tissue Massage?

You’ll LOVE  Barefoot Ah-Shiatsu Massage!

                   1 1/2 Hour - $95        1 Hour - $75    1/2 hour $40

Barefoot Ah-Shiatsu Massage Therapy has been practiced in Asia for over 3,000 years and it evolved through Tibet, China, Thailand and Japan.

'Ashi' means foot and 'atsu' means pressure points. Ah-Shiatsu works with pressure
and energy lines of the body. Generally speaking, more pressure can be applied through Barefoot Ah-Shiatsu than can be achieved on a massage table. This facilitates a deep muscle flush, deeper relaxation of the muscles and nervous system, release of lactic acid and metabolic waste at deeper levels than table massage, release of deep trigger points (hyper-irritable muscle spots), and deep adhesions that impair full muscle range and function.

Ah-Shiatsu is effective, safe and restorative at a very deep level. The chronic worry, stress, rush, noise, tension in our modern society causes stress at a deep level of body-mind. This special massage technique combines specific pressure point therapy with therapeutic medium to deep tissue work to ease out knots and relieve deep muscle tension. This unique work is applied to all areas of the back, hips, legs, feet, arms, shoulders, chest and abdominal area using slow and firm pressure (never painful & always to your comfort level).

Everyone holds tension in their body, which increases from daily stress. Deep muscle tension and tension patterns that we all carry may have been there for weeks, months, years or even decades! This tension affects not only the muscles, but the nervous system and function of vital energy movement in the body, along the energy pathways.

Barefoot Ah-Shiatsu does more than relieve tight muscles. It also helps release tightness and adhesions in the fascia, which may be due to inactivity, chronic stress or scar tissue. In barefoot Ah-Shiatsu therapy toxins are flushed out of the muscles at a deep level, and circulation is increased.  The muscles feel better and 'clearer'. Joints feel better as the surrounding muscle tension is released. Ah-Shiatsu helps the immune system by increasing lymph flow (the cleanser of the immune system) detoxify the body. Finally, Barefoot Ah-Shiatsu helps open the energy channels in the body.

Like all other forms of Asian Medicine and Bodywork, (martial arts, acupuncture, herbs, reflexology, etc.) Ah-Shiatsu focuses on the whole person and the balance of vital energy in the body. Ah-Shiatsu causes deep relaxation through the release of deep tension and the release of endorphins (the "feel good" hormones).  As deep-level tension is relieved, the body can return to balance and the normal flow of vital energy for health and wellness. It is recognized as an effective therapy for chronic back and neck pain.

In these sessions, I integrate the root teachings of Therapeutic Deep Tissue Massage, Acupressure, Trager Therapy, anatomy, physiology, therapeutic stretching, holistic healing and a reverent spiritual practice.

The pressure can be as deep or light as feels good to you and is always customized to your body's needs at that time, your comfort level and flexibility. Over several sessions you will notice increased relaxation, flexibility, openness and range of motion.. It is never painful, but feels so good and sometimes sometimes 'hurts so good' as soreness, deep tension and toxins are released.

Ah-Shiatsu is done on a comfy shiatsu floor mat (like a futon). No lotion or oil is used. You wear very comfortable clothes (t-shirt & shorts or sweat pants). Please do not wear slippery nylon athletic clothes, no jeans, fitted pants or button shirts.

Barefoot Ah-Shiatsu is excellent for sore muscles or just because it feels so good! You'll feel the difference!

About
Ah- Shiatsu.....

I'm a pretty big guy and really like deep pressure in my massage but couldn't find someone to work deep enough for me. Then I tried this barefoot Ah-Shiatsu. Mary was able to get the pressure as deep as I wanted which helped relieve my muscle soreness. It feels great!
~Stan R., mechanic

After hiking my legs and hips really hurt so I came in to try Ah-Shiatsu to see if I could get relief from the muscle cramps, pain and soreness. It helped so much that now I come in for regular sessions! This is great massage that feels fantastic and is never painful and it really works out the kinks.
~Sherry J., weekend hiker

I'll admit it - I was skeptical since I had never heard of this kind of massage. But I was having back, shoulder and especially arm pain from working at my computer all day, so I decided to give it a try. Wow! It really worked. In just one session my arms, shoulders and back felt so much better and so much more open and relaxed. Now I love Barefoot Ah-Shiatsu!
~Tim W., Computer Programmer

I'm a mom with three active kids under age six. I've had chronic back pain, especially my low back for over a year. And my shoulders and hips hurt from constantly carrying the kids. Ah-Shiatsu was wonderful. No more pain!
~ Deb S., mom

I remember those Asian girls walking on my back when I was stationed in Japan in the military many moons ago. Mary explained that she does not actually walk on your back but uses the right amount of pressure for you. Well, I'm a runner and lift weights a lot, too. My hamstrings especially, were always so tight and painful that I couldn't stretch them out completely & I had pain for almost a year. I tried other massages and did not get relief. This really did the trick. Mary applied pretty deep pressure right on my hamstrings -- and it really 'hurt so good'. She kept checking with me during the session to make sure it was deep enough but not too deep. Now, I can stretch better and am pain free. I feel so much better overall.
~Ryan N., athlete
