good when used in focused areas for pain relief -- in the summer months, the emphasis is on cool therapy. I use various

What to Expect
In a
Hot Stone Massage Therapy Session
First, we discuss
your health history and any issues or concerns you may have, any areas of pain,
and any questions you have. Then I help you select your choice of aromatherapy
(or none if you are sensitive to fragrance) from my collection of Therapeutic
Essential Oils. After I leave the room you undress to your comfort level (in
privacy) and recline on my comfortable massage table. Please note that in a
professional massage you are always completely covered with a sheet (and a
blanket if it's cold) to protect your privacy and only the area being
worked on is uncovered.
During the Massage
During your session warm
(and cool) fragrant, smooth oiled stones are used for therapeutic massage of
your muscles - on your shoulders, back, arms, hands, legs, calves & feet.
Because sessions are always customized to your needs, your tension & stress will
just melt and you will move into even deeper relaxation. Special warm (and cool)
stones may also be placed on top of the sheet on your tummy & chest,
some stones may be placed under your shoulders & back, arms, legs and feet and
even between the toes! Small cool stones may be gently placed on your face -
Cool stones on your eyelids & face feel wonderful, are good for sinuses & don't
drip. Massage on your feet and hands with warm fragrant stones feels wonderful
and is fantastic for increasing circulation. Everyone just LOVES Hot Stone
Massage!
Note that I do not massage the breast area on women and will do abdominal
massage only if you are comfortable with it and by your request.
My goal is to make your
experience the best it can be. You are in control at all times, so I will ask if you want more or less pressure or need something else
to be totally comfortable.
Please ask questions! And
tell me if you like or dislike something! My goal is to provide you with a
wonderful relaxing, experience to assist you to totally relax & de-stress. Aromatherapy
for relaxation is included at no extra charge. However, if you are sensitive or
allergic to fragrances then I will use plain unscented massage oil.
Ticklish?
If you are sensitive and ticklish, not to worry. I
use firmer touch so it does NOT tickle, but feels really good. I have never had
a client (even those with ticklish feet) who did not completely enjoy their Hot
Stone or Reflexology experience.
Children & Massage
Children Can
Benefit From Therapeutic Massage, Hot Stone Massage & Reflexology! Kids (age 8-18) will experience the same
benefits as adults.
Stress Affects Kids, Too!
- Today, kids & teenagers have a lot going on mentally, emotionally and
physically -- from the pressure to achieve in school, sports,
cheerleading, music lessons, and all their extra-curricular activities
to the stress of family issues and life in general.
Pain Relief for Your Kids - Children who are active and participate in sports get sore muscles.
Recent studies show that kids who carry heavy back packs every day are more
likely to experience neck, shoulder and or back pain. Some kids get leg
cramps, sometimes referred to as "growing pains" especially at night. Massage Therapy Can Help!
Children benefit
from pain relief, stress release, a positive method of relaxation and positive
therapeutic touch.
Hot Stone Massage or Reflexology the day before that big exam,
performance, or the ACT/SAT test could be beneficial to help your kids relax, sleep better, and
reduce stress and test anxiety.
Each session is always customized for their total feelings of comfort,
safety, needs
and goals! If your
child is in general
good health, they should definitely feel better after experiencing a Hot
Stone Massage, Therapeutic NMT Massage for Pain Relief, or Reflexology as it will
relieve pain, help them relax and de-stress. Each session is totally customized to
each child's individual needs and stress points.
Depending
on the age and condition of the child, sessions
may be of shorter duration
than an adult.
Your
child
will be
treated with the highest level of ethical and professional standards and
conduct.
The
privacy, safety and feelings
of your child are of the
utmost importance.
Emotions
The mind and body are connected and we
all store emotions in our body - "the issues are in the tissues." All
types of massage, bodywork, yoga and breath work are great therapies to help
process and release emotions before they get 'frozen or stuck' in the
tissues, and also to help us release old emotional patterns that no longer
serve us. Sometimes as muscle tightness and tension
is released, the body/mind will release an emotion, and regular bodywork greatly
assists this process (a good thing to remain healthy). A feeling of
emotional release may happen during a session or 1-3 days after the session,
depending on your process.
As a massage therapist and bodyworker, my goal is to assist you in your
process. Know that if you feel sad or joyful, it is perfectly ok to feel and express those feelings.
Sometimes you may even feel like crying or laughing.
Remember, Reflexology, Massage other body therapies are holistic modalities that touch your body, mind, and spirit.
Deep Relaxation
To experience the full benefits of your session with Reflexology and Hot
Stone Massage, focus on slow, deep breathing. You will feel very relaxed and
refreshed at the end of the session. You may also feel slightly ‘spacey’ after
the massage as as you experience release of muscle tension, release of deep
toxins and relaxation.
Near the end of each session, I will do energy work (Reiki) for a few minutes to
balance your chakras, your energy field and harmonize your systems. If you are
not familiar with this type of body work, please read about the benefits of
Reiki. Reiki energy feels wonderful but if you are
not comfortable with this concept, please let me know.
After Your Session
Therapeutic Massage is a completely holistic and natural process to restore
balance and relieve tension and stress in the body. This will increase
circulation to all the cells, organs & tissues in the body. This will also
activate your lymph and kidney systems to cleanse and remove toxins from the
body. There are no side effects but, as in all bodywork,
sometimes these systems will become more active during the next few days while
the body is cleansing the muscles and lymph system which assist the immune
system to function more efficiently.
Drink Lots of Water
Remember your body is cleansing and balancing so WATER is important! Please
drink at least 16 oz. (2 full cups) of pure water (or herbal teas, NO
caffeine) in the next 24 hours.
The more water the better, since toxins are being eliminated.
You may experience more sinus drainage or increased urination. If you experience
slight muscle soreness the next day, please continue to drink extra water to
flush out the toxins.
You also may experience more energy than usual the next day. If you are more
tired, get extra sleep. This is all perfectly normal and means your body is
cleansing.

Good Circulation — Why it’s
Important
Every minute of the day your blood is busy bringing oxygen and nutrients
for maintenance and repair to every single cell of your body. Circulation
also brings antibodies and hormones, and removes cellular wastes, toxins
and inflammation.
Good circulation is critical for energy, brain function, blood pressure,
heart function, metabolism, digestion, immune function, and every other
bodily process. Good circulation is absolutely vital to health and the
healing process, from muscle stress after exercise, to healing after an
injury.
Tight or sore muscles, which are often caused by stress, restrict
circulation. And soreness in muscles after exercise is often caused by an
excess of lactic acid that the body is unable to remove from the muscle
tissue. Hot Stone Massage and Reflexology are wonderful ways to increase
circulation in the entire body, as well as target particular areas of
need. Hot and cold therapy is very effective for improving circulation,
muscle relaxation, releasing tension & feeling great. Experience the
benefits of Hot Stone Massage and Reflexology!
**Reflexology and massage are not a substitute for standard medical care.
Please
see your doctor for any medical condition.
How Massage Helps
You Cleanse & Detoxify
for Better Health
Massage is not only a
great way to feel good. Did you know Massage, Reflexology and Aromatherapy
can help to cleanse & detoxify the body? Cleansing is a vital component of
good health. The lymphatic system and the blood are like the housecleaning
system of the body. Blood, pumped by the heart is circulated throughout
the body bringing vital oxygen & nutrients to every cell. Lymph fluid
moves through cells and tissues collecting toxins, cellular & metabolic
waste & viruses, bacteria. Since the lymphatic system has no pump like the
heart, the lymph fluid moves very slowly. Swelling or cold in the hands
and feet can indicate poor circulation and reduced lymph flow. As we age,
circulation and metabolism slow down and toxins are not released as fast.
If our natural filters (liver, kidneys, lungs) are congested they are not
operating efficiently and they are unable to clean the waste and toxins
from blood. Then the toxins circulating in the bloodstream are carried to
all the cells in the body instead of vital oxygen and nutrients. The good
news is that Massage and Reflexology with warm and cool stones greatly
increases lymph as well as blood circulation. It is particularly
beneficial for the legs and feet, where circulation must move against
gravity. Therapeutic aromatherapy also helps bring oxygen to the entire
system, cleanse the liver and blood, and boost the immune system. Massage,
Reflexology & therapeutic Aromatherapy -- what a great way to
de-stress, increase circulation, feel great and help detoxify and cleanse
the body!

Drink More Spring or Filtered Water to Improve
Every Facet of Your Health - by Dr. Joseph Mercola
www.mercola.com
"You’ve
heard it repeatedly: make sure you drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of
water per day. The key words are “at least,” because, unless you are a child
or the size of a child, you need more water than that. The rule of thumb is,
for every 50 pounds of body weight you carry, drink one quart of bottled
spring or filtered water per day. The average person weighs 150lbs, so they
should drink three quarts per day. A 200lb person should drink a full gallon
per day. Athletes should drink even more than that. Follow these guidelines
and you’ve adopted one of the most crucial health habits."
Hospitals Using Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the US
“The number of hospitals offering complementary and alternative
medicines (CAM) doubled from 7.6% in 1998 to 16.6% in 2002.” Reflexology was
among the 16 CAM services assessed in the survey by the 2003 Complementary and
Alternative Medicine Survey of Hospitals released by the American Hospital
Association’s Health Forum. More than 1,000 hospital participated in the survey.
