What is Neuromuscular Therapy?
Muscle tightness and tension can sometimes cause compression of nerves which can cause "shooting pain" down the arm, leg or hip.
Sometimes muscles become 'hyper-irritable' which results in 'trigger points' that can cause cramping and pain.

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a special deep tissue massage technique to help relieve chronic pain. Although Neuromuscular Therapy works at a deep level to relieve tightness, tension and pain in muscles it is NOT painful, but sometimes "hurts so good". This type of therapy can range from gentle to deep according to YOUR body & what feels good. Even gentle NMT works to release tension, pain and tightness at the source, relieves 'trigger points' and allows circulation to flow again.

Recent studies show that Therapeutic Massage has been proven by researchers to be more effective than both chiropractic and acupuncture in relieving back pain.

NMT is particularly effective to deal with pain from:

  •   Whiplash

  •   Headaches - Migraine, Cluster, Tension

  •   'Frozen Shoulder'

  •   Neck & Arm Pain

  •   Carpal Tunnel and Repetitive Motion Injury

  •   Leg Cramps, Muscle Cramps, "Runners Cramps"

  •   Sciatica

  •   Back Pain

  •   Shin Splints

  •   Leg & Calf pain

  •   Sore Muscles after exercise, gardening, sports
       or  outdoor activity - hiking, biking, kayaking,  running.

  •   Foot Pain

  •  Plantar Fasciatis

*** This NMT technique, called  Body Insight© is based on the principles of the body-mind connection and was pioneered and developed by Gary Salinger, owner of the Healing Arts Institute in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Self Care Education

  * Easy to Do

  * Effective

  * Works Well

  * Help for Specific Areas

  * Helps You Feel Better Everyday!

Everyone carries tension in their body which causes muscles to tense up, shorten and tighten. Over time, this becomes a chronic cycle - tension and tightness inhibits circulation which causes pain which causes more tension, tightness and pain, further inhibiting circulation.....

There are things you can do to feel better and help break this cycle of tension and pain -- getting massage, doing regular yoga, pilates, stretching, and breathing. All of these assist the body in returning to balance.

After your massage I will show you several specific stretches for the muscles that are tight or stressed.

These are simple and easy stretches that will make you feel so much better. They take just minutes and you can do them at home or at the office.

In just a short time you'll be surprised at how much better you'll feel and how much your range of motion has improved!

This will help the positive effects of your massage last longer, you'll feel better as you continue to stretch and "work out the kinks" in the muscles everyday. As your muscles continue to strengthen and stretch, you will gain range of motion and feelings of openness and expansion.
